I don't believe this
Sunday, 7 November 2004 03:32 pmPublicans "will fight" a smoking ban in Scotland.
Apparently they're worried that consumption of pints will go down if they introduce a smoking ban. Call me a killjoy, but good. There's a serious drinking problem in Scotland. I'd rather the smoking and alcohol trades had to readjust a bit, if there could be an improvement in public health. You can't have it both ways, a decrease in smoking and drinking without affecting the pub industry.
Anyway, the publicans might fight a smoking ban, but everyone I know who actually works in a bar is all in favour, including the smokers.
