I find that the complexity of the reading material makes a huge difference, and also how well laid-out it is. It's one reason why I get so irritable about people writing poorly, for instance with multiple spelling and grammar mistakes and complete misuse of punctuation and capitals. It makes it a great deal harder for me to read. Shorter paragraphs, headings and so on really help.
