On this community, they'll be appearing on the day they're dated, starting with Cécile Volanges's first letter on the 1st of August. The novel finishes in December with a single letter later in January, so we've got about five months. Posts will be made by the characters in Les Liaisons Dangereuses, who each have their own LJ account, but everyone will be able to comment. Icon help please, you lovely people with design skills

As you will see from my previous entry, lesliaisons1782 starts in a few days. And it needs icons! At the moment I have icons made by poisoninjest from the film as placeholders for the character icons, but I don't want to use those if I can help it, since this community is about the novel, not the film. So we want something appropriate to the characters in whatever way, but nothing that is recognisably from a modern staging or film. The current main icon for the comm (the one I'm using here) is actually from the 1988 film, but hopefully you can't really tell that after what we've done to it.

So please, people, help me! Ready-made icons would be fabulous, but ideas that can be worked into icons, such as paintings from the period, would also be great. I know nothing about art and all I know of 18th c French lit is Laclos, so I'm finding it hard to know where to start.
